Program Description

One of the phenomena of the 20th and 21st centuries has been that of globalisation. This course will equip you with the knowledge and expertise to manage within this global framework. As globalisation increases, more organisations have to work beyond their regional boundaries, compete in diverse global environments and find that their traditional domestic markets are open to global challenges. These organisations need experts who can work across multicultural barriers, develop effective international strategies and source products internationally. This course will develop your skills in these business key areas.

The course will provide an interdisciplinary approach to global citizenship and will help you develop your own understanding of complex notions in the international business environment. Additionally, the course will help you develop digital literacy skills through the use of software employed by contemporary organisations. The development of student knowledge and understanding of a range of international business and management practices and the ability to apply them effectively in an entrepreneurial and innovative manner will also be emphasised, as it is recognised that entrepreneurship is a key force for successful economic growth.

At the end of this course students will be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge and expertise of managing in organisations and in different national cultures.
  2. Evaluate the nature of multinationals' activities in a global business environment.
  3. Discuss and appreciate the issues surrounding developing effective international strategies and sourcing products internationally.
  4. Critically evaluate international business theories related to managing international operations, international strategy and risk analysis, and the principles of international business.
  5. Utilise a range of contemporary and appropriate technologies in developing solutions for a global context.

Entry Requirement
Pass STPM with minimum CGPA 2.0 or 2 credits in any subjects; OR
Pass UEC with 5Bs; OR
Pass A Level with Min.CDD or equivalent of min. 200 points ; OR
Pass MDIS Diploma with minimum CGPA 2.0; OR
Pass Matriculation withminimum CGPA 2.0; OR
Pass Diploma (Level 4 KKM) from institution registered by the Malaysian Government with CGPA 2.0; OR
Other equivalent qualifications as recognized by the Malaysian Government
Additional Criteria
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) 
Score of 6.0 (with Minimum of 5.5 in each element); OR
SPM English 1119 with credits; OR
Other qualification will be considered as a case-by-case basic
Remarks  

This course will help you develop your understanding of international business theories focusing on such topics as managing international operations, international strategy and risk analysis, and principles of international business. You may also gain valuable international experience by spending a year overseas during a work placement (with the sandwich route), subject to availability.

Accordingly, this course could lead to rewarding career opportunities, both in international companies and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs). Our graduates have gone into employment with leading international companies including Lucent Technologies and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Additionally, the course provides a sound basis for postgraduate studies in international business, such as MSc International Business Management.
