Professor Dato' Dr. Syed Ahmad Hussein appointed CEO

Professor Dato’ Dr Syed Ahmad Bin Hussein has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of Kolej MDIS Malaysia from July 2017.  

Having served University Sains Malaysia, Penang for 32 years, Professor Dato' Dr. Syed, was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic and International Affairs of USM from 2001 to 2005 and Dean of the School of Social Sciences, 1997-2001. 

He has remained active in education as the former Chief Executive of the Malaysian National Accreditation Board (2006-2007) after serving as a board member since 1998.  Professor Dato' Dr. Syed was the Cheif Executive Officer of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) since its inception in 2007 until 2014.

Professor Dato' Dr. Syed took up the post as the Vice Chancellor of Perdana Univerity, Malaysia from 2015 to May 2017 and looks-forward to growing Kolej MDIS Malaysia.

Dr Syed was the first President of the ASEAN Quality Assurance Network (AQAN) and Interim Chair of the Association of Quality Assurance Agencies of the Islamic World. He is also on the editorial board of Thailand’s International Journal of Quality Assurance and Accreditation. 

Professor Dato' Dr Syed is a Board Member of the Financial Accreditation Agency of Malaysia (FAA) since 2012. He is also currently a member of the University Quality Assurance International Board (UQAIB) of Dubai since his appointment in September 2015.

A Fulbright-Hays Scholar, Dr Syed earned his doctorate in Political Science from Yale.
